CASTANYADA AND HALLOWEEN

A Catalan and an american way to celebrate the 31st October.

Next friday the students of 3rd year will celebrate the castanyada. It's a traditional celebration in autumn, the 1st November's eve. Students, and of course teachers are invited, eat cooked chestnuts and panallets, a typical sweet made basically of sugar and almonds. Also, this weekend, some students will celebrate the Halloween's Day. That's not a catalan celebration, it's from the United States of America, but it is already very popular here as in the USA. Some children dress up as skeletons, witches, zombies and many horror costumes, but they don't visit neighbours to obtain candies, they just celebrtae parties. Pumpking is the symbol of this celebration.
Good bye and see you another day.
